About John

John David Williams

Singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist John David Williams first appeared on the Orlando music scene in the fall of 2009 as a drummer for the Evan Taylor Jones Band. A fan of a wide variety of musical styles spanning several decades, his influences are almost too numerous to name, although he is particularly fond of the music of 1960’s bands such as The Beach Boys, The Byrds, The Beatles, and Creedence Clearwater Revival, and 1980’s alternative bands R.E.M. and XTC.

In addition to his solo endeavors, he has played with a number of musicians, including Orlando veterans Steve Garron and Joe Panton of Precious, and since 2018 has performed and toured with Cat Ridgeway and the Tourists on bass guitar and backing vocals.

His debut album, No Need To Hurry, was self-released in October 2013, and showcases John’s multi-instrumental abilities (he played every instrument!) and eclectic, genre-hopping sound. No Need To Hurry was followed with an EP, 2016’s Beautiful Distraction, which features a prominent folk-rock sound.

The fall of 2020 saw John re-entering the studio to work on a new batch of songs. His latest release, a remake of his 2013 song “Under The Lights”, was released on January 25th, 2021
